Will my lamp look exactly like the photographs?+
Closely, though not identically. Every shade is cut, foiled and soldered by hand from sheet glass that varies between rolls, so color, the shape of individual pieces and overall measurements all shift slightly from one lamp to the next. Screens introduce a further shift of their own.
Do the colors look like the photographs?+
Closely, within the limits of the material. Unlit, opalescent panels read paler and grayer than they do in a lit photograph, and the difference is most pronounced in the greens. Each listing shows the lamp both lit and unlit wherever both images are available.
Are these real stained glass?+
Yes. Every shade is cut from sheet glass, wrapped in copper foil and soldered by hand, rather than printed film or molded acrylic. The solder beads are visible on the inside of the dome, and the panels vary slightly between lamps because the sheet glass does.
What bulb does it take?+
Each lamp uses a standard E26/E27 screw fitting. Bulbs are not included. The specification table on each product page lists how many the lamp requires: most take one, while the larger table lamps take two and the pendants take three. A bulb between 2700K and 3500K is recommended: the warmer end of that range brings out amber and red glass, while the cooler end favors blues and greens.
Which size should I choose?+
The 12 inch shade suits a bedside table, console or desk and stands 48 cm tall. The 16 inch shade stands 58 cm and casts a considerably wider pool of light, making it the better choice for a living room or a reading chair.
How long until it ships?+
Each lamp is wired and tested to order, which takes 7–12 business days. After dispatch, standard shipping takes 3–6 business days and express takes 2–3.
How is it packed?+
Every lamp travels in a double-layer corrugated box lined with foam cut to fit the shade and base, so that nothing shifts in transit. The packaging has been through repeated drop testing.
What if it arrives broken?+
Photograph the package and the lamp before unpacking any further, then email us.
Can I return a lamp I simply do not like?+
No. Every lamp is cut, foiled and wired to order, so we are unable to accept a return for a change of mind. Faults and transit breakage are a separate matter and are always put right.
Is it safe to leave on?+
Every lamp is wired with a switched cord. The copper cap becomes warm with an incandescent bulb, though it stays cool with an LED. As with any lamp, do not drape fabric over the shade.
