Care

Dusting. A dry microfiber cloth over the outside of the shade, weekly. Work along the solder seams rather than across them, so the cloth doesn't catch on a bead.

Cleaning the glass. A cloth barely damp with warm water, then dry immediately. No ammonia, no vinegar, no glass spray. They dull the solder and can lift the patina from the copper. Never put water inside the shade.

Solder and patina. The seams darken over the years, which is the point. If a bright spot appears where a hand rests, leave it alone and it will even out. Don't polish the solder with metal cleaner.

Bulbs and heat. Stay at or under the wattage marked for your lamp. The spec table on its product page gives the fitting and how many bulbs it takes. An LED runs cooler than an incandescent and is kinder to the copper cap over decades. Let the shade cool before changing a bulb, and support the cap rather than the glass while you do it.

Moving it. Lift by the base with two hands, never by the shade or the finial. If you're packing it away, keep the original box and the foam collars, which are cut to this lamp.
